Within
"It was when I stopped searching for home within others and lifted the foundations of home within myself I found there was no roots more intimate than those between a mind and body that have decided to be whole."
-Rupi Kaur
I'm so glad you're here!
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in the State of Iowa. I am experienced in trauma-informed care and an EMDR trained therapist. Populations that I work wirh inckude individuals, couples, as well as some focused family work, such as meeting with teens and their parents, or with families working toward building and repairing relationships impacted through the course of active addiction. I find pride in being genuine and showing up as a human first in the therapy room. I also enjoy working with those struggling with many different life transitions. I make it a priority to work alongside my clients to support them in moving toward healthy relationships and fulfilling lives through a strengths-based approach. My most fulfilling moments as a therapist are when I laugh with a client or share in their joy of a positive moment or success in their therapy journey.
I completed my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling/Therapy from Capella University in 2019. I also have a Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies from the University of South Dakota, completed in 2015. I am a clinical fellow of the AAMFT and a member of Delta Kappa, the International Marriage & Family Therapy Honor Society. When I’m not at the office, I love traveling, crafting, baking/cooking, gardening, and spending quality time with family, friends, and my 11 year old dog, Roxie. I thrive in the adventure of life and constantly trying new things. I’ve recently completed a 30 by 30 bucket list and am looking forward to diving into my 40 by 40 list!

Verifying your insurance plan benefits prior to scheduling an appointment is an important step to beginning the therapy process. This essential step allows you to have a clear understanding of your coverage, co-payments, and potential out-of-pocket fees, making your therapeutic journey more transparent and financially manageable.
Each client has a right to a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act.
Please remember that being responsible for your bill and ensuring your copay is paid at the time of service, not only helps maintain the integrity of our therapeutic relationship, but, also supports the sustainability of the practice at Balanced Within. Your commitment to this partnership is greatly appreciated.
Are you not sure what to ask your insurance regarding mental health therapy benefits? The following information should be gathered:
If your insurance plan covers therapy sessions with me. If you have a co-payment or co-insurance, and what that amount/percentage is.
If your insurance plan has a deductible that includes mental health appointments. (A deductible is the amount you will pay out of pocket before insurance pays all or part of your appointment costs.)
